www.streetdeal.sg Premium Membership Scam

"I was charged $88 on my credit card by Streetdeal.sg so I called up my bank to check what transaction this was as I did not recall having made any purchases recently on their website. Was informed by the bank that this is the membership fee that they have imposed on all their "premium" members which I never knew I was. Did not receive any notification from Streetdeal that they would be charging me. They just went ahead and did it. Emailed them to request for a refund as I had no intention of being their premium member, and this was their reply:"

Greetings from StreetDeal.

As per the company's discretion, the membership has been revised and there has been a change in the membership fee effecting from 1st January 2014.

As such, all our Premium customers are changed from the annual membership fee to the quarterly membership fee.

Thus, you are charged for the new quarterly membership fee of $88.

In the meantime if you should have any inquires please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you,

The email stated that this $88 is a QUARTERLY fee. I have since cancelled my card and requested my bank to do a chargeback. Googled online and realised that many people have been cheated already, so want to spread this to as many people as possible. In addition, I have been leaving comments on their Facebook page for them to return me my money but they have been deleting my comments and blocking me from seeing others' comments.

  1. Hi, yours is only $88, mine is $650. I reported to the police. Think they won't bother my case. So you just treat as a donation. Pay to learned a lesson, that what my friends told me.

  2. OMG Guys, I thought I was the only one. After some research, I found that it is a persistent problem that affects over 200 people! I wrote another article (compiling all the articles on being scammed) at this link below, please share actively so the people who like their FB Page - currently 32, 676 do not fall prey!

  3. i was also charge this $88 when i make a purchase of only S$16. What a stupid Street Deal

  4. Same here. Was charged $88 for membership that they had cleverly concealed. No clear and concise info/steps that they were going to charge this. Never send a reminder email. Just charged it to your credit card. Very clever scam. How are they still operating and nobody doing anything to close them down? This is just adding on to new numbers of unsuspecting victims.

  5. Omg, I was also scammed recently ! I just bought 2 coupons for a Japanese buffet lunch, paid merely $50+ and was charged the $88 premium membership in 2 days although I wrote to cancel the membership within the so called free trial 36 hours! Obviously a scam case .... so ridiculous!

  8. Unfortunately i found out too late today..... This is a total scam.... How can this company charge $88 quarterly when even banks only charge half that for an annual subscription??? And even so, we can even request for waiver of the card subscription.
This is unacceptable business ethics. I have bought from Zalora and Qoo10 and they don't have such a practice.
Street Deal is just scamming. So they say they have thousands of customers, only a few complain....so the few who complain are not customers in the first place? I shall be telling my friends to boycott Street Deal....
    Total regret....

  9. I was a victim too. But I got my the full $88 back. Don't give in to let them win. Fight for your own rights. This is stealing money from innocent people. I wrote to SD and my bank as soon as I saw it in the card statement. And called too. Of course SD tried all dirty tricks to try to 'handle' me. The banks know what's going on behind these tricks of course. Truth is the banks have some moral obligation to do their best to protect their customers. The bottom line is if the bank doesn't do enough to protect the customer, the customer will walk and find another bank that provides safer measures. Let them know that. They will do something for you. They have the muscle to deal with thieves like SD!! Also report to consumer council.

  13. Hi team,

I visited 2* online shopping website which are:

    Streetdeal - > http://www.streetdeal.sg/

    Mysweetsavings -> https://www.mysweetsavings.sg/iw/welcome/

After the 1st purchase then I continue to charge member fee every month where I didn’t notice as I don’t check bank statement and term and condition when purchasing the item.

    It was indeed my mistake.

I would like to check is there any way I can get back the full refund of member fee from them?

I also want to take this opportunity to feedback and alert other online shopping users.

    Total member fee charged:

    Streetdeal - > S$88 X 3 = S$264

    My sweetsaving- > S$34.90 X 4 = S$139.60

  14. I'm the new victim from the Streetdeal premium membership scam. This scam have been going on since 2012 when I search online and Im totally surprise that they are still operating till today even with so many complaints against them

  15. Omg, I got scammed too. However, I got scammed from this site called www.straitdeals.com I suspect that they're from the same company as streetdeal because the tactic is similar. Same website layout too, but different name and colour.

I was scammed SGD89. If you purchase from straitdeals.com, please remember to unsubscribe from their "Premium" account within 48 hours, or else it'll automatically deduct SGD89 from your bank. They're quite cunning because to continue with the purchase, they'll make you check this mandatory Terms and Condition box. HOWEVER, please read carefully because it will write something like this "I acknowledge that I have read, understood and agreed with the Terms and Conditions and Subscription terms and I accept to be charged sgd89 quaterly" AND, no receipt/confirmation email will be given for this SGD89. The only receipt/confirmation email you'll receive is when you purchase the vouchers.. (i.e. Express Manicure @ $3). The SGD89 will then be quietly deducted from your bank account. :( Please be careful.

    1. Hey, apparently there were consumers who accepted the Street Dollars, but nothing they bought was ever delivered. It's just a new way of scamming you - don't accept the Street Dollars, go straight to the bank for a chargeback.

    2. Yes, don't accept street dollars - the money still theirs. Call your bank and report.

  18. I got cheated too. I did not even know they just conveniently use my credit card details and put me on subscription. Called my bank to hold this payment but they say they cannot do anything as I have agreed to it.. Problem is I did not agree to it at they point of sale of a bag with streetdeal. How could UOB allow this kind of "authorisation" and allow us to get charged.
Intend to contact CASE to seek for advise. Not fair to consumers

  19. To anyone who felt cheated, call your credit card issuing bank, they should help you.

  20. Yes, call your credit card bank to default the payment. If they say they can't, threaten them to cancel your card & tell them to sue u cause u are not going to pay.. I don't think they will make the second choice ..

    2. tried what you suggested with OCBC. They say they cannot charge back to streetdeal..at mosty they can raise a dispute to investigate. But if evidence show that I am at fault, they will charge me additional $15. Since all data is with streetdeal..I am in an obvious disadvantage.

ANYWAY, conclusion is...OCBC will not help me. Even when I threaten to cancel my cards...they asked me to please go ahead.

  21. I have read about such scam from StreetDeals last few weeks and yet i found myself as a new victims to this flout even as a old customer returning to StreetDeals.
Called the bank to stop this credit card payment to StreetDeals.

There is many ways to do a honest business and make money, and what StreetDeals has done is really a bad practice for an unfair acts to all the customers.
I have reported to CASE and they suggested to report this to the Small Claims Tribunals.
Someone in the authority should step forward to stop such dishonest acts from the company.....

  23. Firstly, call to your respective bank and raise a dispute. At the same time, you can write email to streetdeal and request fully cash refund by proving you never sign up any membership. If streetdeal refund you in streetdollar, you must stand firmly that you only accept cash refund. Then, you ignore them and forward all the email to bank as supporting document.

    good luck

  26. Hi there, I just received my credit card statement and the statement shows the $88 charged from Streetdeal as well.
The remarks was "bangkok something" which I have never purchased any bangkok stuff or travel tickets from streetdeal before. My latest purchased was in september 2015 however I was charged on this $88 on April 2016. How can they just take our personal credit card details to charge us on the $88?

As anyone complained to the credit card bank to reverse the $88? How was the response from the bank?? Can anyone share?
